I am so confused why this place has less than 5 stars overall. My husband and I eat sushi for date night 2-5 times a month and we are pretty snobby about our sushi at this point. This tiny little hole in the wall gem has become our absolute favorite sushi spot in the past few weeks. It’s affordable, fresh, and faster than any sushi place we’ve ever been to. We are die hard Hapa fans, we love japango, and we love Sumo. little Ol Aji just blew them all out of the park.
We have been here a couple of times and both times we had a great experience. The place is small but cute and very clean. The service is good and the staff is really nice and attentive, for example the moment we told them where the kids were going to seat, they immediately put chopstick helpers on their plates without us having to ask like it happens in every other Japanese restaurant. The bento boxes portions are very generous and include more items than most bento boxes we’ve tried before. The sushi rolls are really nice and flavorful. If you like sashimi, I recommend the white tuna with truffle special, it’s soooo good!
The sushi here is truly delicious, I usually go for the traditional rolls, but the special rolls I've tried have been inventive and yummy. My husband is vegan and Sushi Aji has the best and largest selection of vegan rolls we've ever seen. The staff is super friendly and efficient. The restaurant is low-key and I find it very relaxing. I've also had a couple of non -Sushi meals, the tonkatsu was delicious and their Udon was lovely.
I love this place. I have ordered food both through Door Dash and over the phone and it is always so quick. The sweet lady who helps out at the front is always so efficient, especially when she is the only server there. My favorite sushi place that I have to not go to every day. The eel roll with avocado and the sweet potato roll are both my go-to. I could eat so many of them. The price point I put is because I usually order a couple of rolls per person.
Packed on a Friday night, the staff was working very hard. We got a nice seat outside which ended up working perfectly. I wouldn’t say the sushi was life changing but it was definitely well above average quality, and the tea and vegetable tempura we had were both great. I’d definitely go back!
I DoorDashed some food from here and it was amazing! All of it tasted super good and fresh. I got tofu, miso, and avocado rolls. Awesome prices too, definitely recommend this place!
Every time I come here, the fish tastes incredibly fresh. I don't even use soy sauce and wasabi because it doesn't need it. Great hidden gem in Lafayette. UPDATE: still awesome! And super cute new chairs that are comfortable (in case you've been in the past).
You need to stop here and get the Unicorn Roll before you leave! It was so good. I was only in Colorado overnight, so I had to stop back in on my way back home to get more. Everything was very good and nicely presented. We wolfed through the big tray we ordered before thinking about taking pictures.
